HELP A GRADUATING SENIOR
We are working very hard to continue raising funds to help in need graduating seniors with their senior year expenses. Think about it. How would you feel if everyone around is excited about a yearbook, prom, and grad night ... and you can’t be a part of the festivities? The funds we raise will go towards helping a graduating senior with these items.
The students we are trying to help are from families struggling to make ends meet, single parent homes, family illness, grandparents on fixed incomes, foster children, and students who are homeless, couch hopping, or in homeless shelters. We have met them all and we know how much it means to them to have the opportunity to be a part of the senior year excitement. Many of them just don’t think it’s possible because it seems so unreachable – we want to change that and we can with your help.
With all the difficulties they have faced, they remain committed to graduating with the hope of a brighter future. A future of going to college, vocational school, or the military. A dream of perhaps of breaking the cycle and being the first to graduate from high school, or the first in their family to go to college.
To date, we have purchased 55 caps and gowns, 31 grad night tickets, 30 prom tickets, and 40 yearbooks. It is approximately $375 - $400 per student for each to receive a cap and gown, yearbook, prom ticket, and grad night ticket. We are continuing to receive requests and will do our best to help with each request.
How wonderful it has been helping Caroline McAllister as she photographs the students. She has provided the students with senior pictures for the past 6 years – all at her own expense and time. You just have no idea what it means to these kids to have these beautiful portraits. Tears of joy are shed by the parents, guardians, and family members as they watch their child being photographed in their finery and their cap and gown...reality really sets in that they are graduating! So many of these kids have overcome so many obstacles and challenges and they never gave up! This is a gift that will last forever and I am forever grateful to Caroline McAllister for her very giving heart.
KEENAN & ASSOCIATES.............THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
AAngels’ Closet Charities received a letter from Charlotte Doepker, Vice President, Digital Marketing, Keenan & Associates with a check enclosed in the amount of $4,150 to be used to help these students with a cap and gown, yearbook, prom ticket, and grad night ticket. What company does that? Keenan & Associates does!
“For over 40 years Keenan & Associates has served school districts and charities that specifically aid in the efforts toward the betterment in the lives of the youth in California. Each year during the holiday season, the leadership team personally donates money to a cause that is important to our company and employees.” We are so thankful to this wonderful company and its employees for reaching out to help Angels’ Closet Charities help these students with their graduation needs.
We have been so fortunate to have met some of the employees from Keenan and Associates. They have the biggest heart ever. You hear “it starts at the top” well, at this company it really does. This is a family owned business which believes in community service and community support.
How lucky we were when in September we were chosen to be a part of “Keenan impact Days”. They provided us with 350 duffel bags, 150 backpacks filled with school supplies, underwear, socks, toiletries, and clothing!!! What a wonderful two days we had getting to know this wonderful family of employees! We are so grateful for their support in helping the students.
WITH THE DONATION RECEIVED FROM KEENAN & ASSOCIATES, WE ARE NOW APPROXIMATELY $1,000 SHORT OF RAISING THE FUNDS TO HELP THESE STUDENTS.
It is not easy to tell students “we are not sure we can help, but we will try”. We are trying and we are grateful to all of you for your donations....we just need a little more.
If you wish to help, you may donate through PayPal, send a personal check, or drop by the Closet. We are grateful to all of you for helping us help the kids.
As you continue reading the website, you will read what it meant to these students who got to participate last year.
REDLANDS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
We wish to thank the Redlands Community Foundation for their grant of $800 to Angels’ Closet Charities. These funds will be used to purchase much needed jeans and shoes. We are honored to be a recipient of a grant from this wonderful organization.
We are pleased to announce the receipt of funds from San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. These funds are to be used as a 2015/2016 Helping Hand for Middle School and High School Students. This is such a big help to us as we never receive enough jeans donated in all the sizes we need which results in our purchasing the clothing items we need. We do try to provide each student with 5 outfits each including new shoes, new socks, and new underwear. Having served approximately 400 students last year you can see how quickly the money goes. We are truly honored to have received these funds from San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Thank you very much.
Angels’ Closet Charities has recently been accepted as a charity in Thrivent Financial’s Thrivent Choice” Program. Since we have an ongoing need, we will be using any funds received through this program to purchase jeans, shoes, socks, and underwear. “By directing Choice Dollars”, eligible Thrivent members can recommend which nonprofit organizations they feel should receive charitable grant funding from Thrivent.” If you are an eligible member, please consider us when directing Choice Dollars. Thrivent Choice” believes in strengthening communities and changing lives through their charitable outreach program. We are very grateful to be a part of this program.
END OF SCHOOL YEAR
If it weren’t for the generous donations from the wonderful service organizations and personal donations we would never have been able to First of all, I have to thank Needle Express for helping the young men with suits. There are times when we don’t have a suit to fit a young man. Each young man who was referred to Needle Express appreciates the wonderful service and thoughtfulness. Thank you everyone who sponsored a student! Every student who requested a yearbook received one; special requests were made for Grad Night tickets – every student recommended for a grad night ticket received one. I want to tell you sponsors how emotional a time this was. Some of these kids have never been anywhere – never been to Disneyland – the joy you brought to these kids just can’t be expressed – they were speechless and so very appreciative. The senior pictures provided by Ms. Caroline McAllister were beautiful. The parents and students were so appreciative. We had a great time at the organizations we were invited to give a presentation about Angels’ Closet – they “passed the hat” to help our graduating seniors, some took collections in their office, and some adopted a student for all their senior year expenses.
For those of you who wish to help with these costs, we welcome gift cards and monetary donations.
Thank you everyone!
